The WHO has defined M.D as the death of woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and site of the pregnancy, form any cause related to aggravated by the pregnancy of its management but not from accidental or incidental causes.

The government failed to make people understand that the virus is not as dangerous as a critical pregnancy, and this is going to make our maternal mortality rate the highest in a decade.

Neonatal deaths have also increased, from 13 deaths per 1000 live births before lockdown to 40 deaths per 1000 live births during the first lockdown.
